Tanzania is a true paradise for the walkers. Next to the classic ascent of Kilimandjaro, that of the Mont Meru or the Oldonyo Lengaï will leave with you an unforgettable memory.

Symbol of Africa, the Mountain Kilimandjaro, dominates the African steppe of its 5 895m. Of the famous highest seven peaks in the world, this is the easiest climb. It requires no technical climbing experience, and any moderately fit person can summit the mountain. The Kilimandjaro can be climbed at any time of the year, but the rainy seasons (April-June; November-December) make the forest more slippery and the summit might be blocked by snow. Be prepared for climatic extremes, from rain in the forest, intense sun in the alpine desert and freezing temperatures at the summit.

Second higher summit of Africa (4 565m), the mount Meru, sacred mountain of the tribe of Waarusha is less frequented by the walkers. The Mt Meru is a great preparation hike for climbing Kilimanjaro, or a spectacular trek for those not compelled to do Kilimanjaro. You will hike past wildlife, the landscape is spectacular, and sunrise on the summit has Kilimanjaro as the backdrop.

Climb the volcano Oldoinyo Lengaï (2 800 m), the " mountain of God " for the tribe Masaï. Only active volcano of carbonite of the world, it raises itself in the North, in the heart of the masaï, near the lake Natron country. The ascent is quite hard, but the discovery of this impressive crater spitting of the black lava will reward your efforts!
